Still, easy enough to add the extra bit and it does make sense.

Re: mud spray - at the risk of sounding stupid, my instinct is to dip an old toothbrush in some brown paint and run my thumb through the bristles. That's not going to work right, is it...?

Another question, if I may. I've just noticed that the instructions tell me to attach a little aerial to the underside of the plane. However, they aren't terribly clear on where it goes, and I can't see a hole or indentation anywhere to indicate. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks, I've found where it's supposed to go and there's definitely no indication on the kit itself. I think I may have to leave it off, I should have drilled out a hole for it earlier...

Decals are all on now (except for those damned swastikas) and some weathering done.

Aha, found them. And it's all sealed in with matt varnish, I just need to attach an aerial wire and I'm done...

Last set of interim shots, I'm off to do the aerial wire now and will take some official "finished" shots tomorrow in the daylight. I think I'll give the second one a miss, I don't feel that keen...

Well done on toning down the red. Great finish.

It didn't need toning down too much - as suggested, the matt finish took a lot of the aargh my eyes out of it and a bit of Tamiya Smoke and Citadel "Bestial Brown" gave it a used look.

Oh, absolutely. Really useful and very enjoyable. And interesting to see so many different ways of approaching the exact same pieces of plastic...
