Any magic fixes for a cracked open seam, please?

Post by DavidWomby »

My cack-handedness opened a fuselage seam on my almost complete and already painted model.

I suspect the only real solution is something like: gouge a trench along the crack, dose it with liquid cement, then fill, sand and repaint. Or, I could try to live with it. Anyway, I thought I'd see if anybody has a solution that is less drastic. Thanks

If it's a crack then some hot liquid cement (like Tenax, when it used to be available; perhaps Tamiya green now) will flow right into it and you can probably apply enough pressure with the good-old thumb & finger clamp then a touch-up with the sanding stick and some paint.

It's my model and I'll do what I want with it.

Thanks. I couldn't get rid of it entirely despite two tries with cement, filler, sand a repaint. It seems it's just one of those seams (pun intended). I can live with this:

They are often caused when using lacquer paints/primers on top of hot fillers or even just too much extra thin cement. Best re-gluing with superglue and filling with a water based or epoxy filler
