Airfix Mosquito, or lack thereof.

Post by Tiger Hobbies »

Like many of you, we were looking forward to the New Airfix 1/72 Mosquito, but we have just been informed by our Airfix Supplier ( normally very good and its not their fault) they are getting precisely ZERO supplied to them from Airfix, and in turn as the brown stuff rolls downhill, and we are getting none also.
Lucky we canceled all our pre-orders for Airfix (with a couple of exceptions) and only took three pre-orders for the Mossie and these will be supplied by one of our trusted colleagues in the trade, so if you have ordered off Tiger Hobbies you will get your Mossie, no matter what the cost to us, (All Mosquito pre-orders now fulfilled via one of our colleagues in the trade)
According to our Airfix Supplier, we will eventually get them in October with the rest of the 3rd and 4th class folks.
If you have ordered this model you should check with your supplier just in case they have been let down by their supplier who in turn have been let down by Hornby.

Best regards.

If you order from us please could you mention UAMF on your order or send us a PM? This is to help us get the right products posted on the site for you to view. Many thanks, Captain Tiger.

More knock-on effects of the Pandemic and the Evergreen Suez Incident, I'm sure.

At least you all in Britain WILL see it this year, unlike the rest of the World, where we're unlikely to see the kit until 2022 now!

It’s difficult to blame Hornby for a shipping situation that is largely out of their control. The current cost shipping a standard 40 foot container of good from China to the UK is over US$15,000 compared to about US$2,500 a year ago because of the massive increase in demand. I have to wonder at what price point the cost of shipping gets so high that it makes sense to onshore more production.

With this, it isn't the shipping situation, though we are aware that that isn't helping, it's the fact that they have supplied a select few with all they wanted but left the rest of their customers with nothing, rather than sharing them out so everyone got at least some of the new kit rather than the majority having to wait. That would have kept all their loyal customers happy.

Well, that does suck.

I spoke with my 'local' hobby store owner yesterday (the store is 150 miles away) and he's finally expecting some Airfix to arrive this month - he hasn't received a shipment of new Airfix this year....
