Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre

Post by beany »

I have just spent a very nice, short week at Jim's holiday cottage and we took a trip out to the relatively nearby Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre. I know the subtitle for this section is "Things That Fly" but in this case I would say it is more a case of "Things That Taxi (but are being worked on to get them to flying condition)". :ha:
The highlights for me were the Lancaster, Mosquito and particularly the cockpit section from the Hampden, but there is a lot more to see (Ooh, I forgot the wreckage from a Do.17Z also).
Details can be found here: https://www.lincsaviation.co.uk/

Here are just a few of my photos from the day - of which I wish I had taken more with hindsight.

It was great to have you both stay at Conifer Cottage, and also to have our trip out to East Kirkby 👍
Ann and I are really glad you had a good break and liked the cottage, and you'll be pleased to hear that after your feedback there is a larger TV on order!
For anyone who has not been to see Just Jane and the rest of the exhibits at East Kirkby, I can thoroughly recommend a visit!
The only photo I can add is of this lovely old bus

Best wishes

From what aircraft are the cockpit photos from?
It's only pain, work through it.

Nice to see aircraft in a light, airy and spacious hangar!

It is a reproduction of a Halifax. More detail here: https://www.lincsaviation.co.uk/news/up ... ockpit.htm

Nice pic's Al but what we all REALLY want to know is - what was wrong with the TV? :-D

Did that Jim bloke make you live with an old B&W portable from his boat? :ha: :ha: :ha:

Also - is his stash as big as it looks in the photos!?

Conifer Cottage is lovely and there was absolutely nothing wrong with the telly per se, but my tired old eyes (I REALLY DO need to go to Specsavers) struggled to ready any on screen guide text etc. so I suggested a larger one for the cottage lounge. It is probably because I have spoiled myself with a new 55" TV recently and my eyes can't cope with anything smaller now. As for the stash, it is SOOOO large that it is in another house all to itself and as such I didn't even get to see it! I believe it even has it's own Post Code.
