Getting (re) started

Post by islander52 »

Been modelling for around 60 years - took a while before I found out there were other manufacturers than Airfix. Some ships, cars, AFVs but mostly aircraft. 72nd is by far the dominant scale but have dabbled in 48th in recent years. Saw another post about Betta Bilda - still have most of mine in the loft. Also the slot car sets (MRRC) but sadly gave these away.
My modelling gradually improved over the years, having seen what others produce but my particular zenith has probably been reached and am in awe of what I've seen here and elsewhere online. Main thing is to enjoy the modelling and, while admiring the tremendous work of others, not to let it pull me back into the shadows.
In recent years have loosely worked on themes e.g. WWII Japanese army and navy aircraft but biggest project has been a/c that flew in the Korean conflict in the early '50s.

If you can walk away from a landing, it's a good landing. If you use the airplane the next day, it's an outstanding landing
