Kia ora from little old Aotearoa - New Zealand
A long time lurker, first post yesterday.
Started with plastic kits and balsa wood aircraft in the early 1960s.
My brother modelled loads of 1/72 and 1/48 aircraft from all the old makers and I copied him by building 1/72 aircraft.
One my very early models was an Airfix HMS Tiger from then I started with 1/76 vehicles from Airfix.
Remember Chris Ellis and his 1/76 conversions in Airfix Magazine? Up until I joined the NZ Army in Jan 1966 I made every one of his conversions following his wise notes. From then on for 9 years army life sort of got in the way. Part of the journey was finding Tamiya and friends 1/35 and larger vehicles. Remember the first M8 Greyhound with motor and rubber tyres?
In 1971 discovered and fell for 54mm Model Soldiers which I still make. So for years it was a mix of 54mm and 1/35 modelling basically up to about a year ago when I started to sell off my 1/35th and larger items. Made a return back to the scales of my childhood.
As I am not getting any younger and the real possibility of moving to either 1) a smaller house 2) retirement village or 3) rest home I thought that I could continue modelling. Yes folks I am that young and do I care? Not at all.
