I thought I would reflect on how things have changed since I joined the RAF in September 1970 and arrived on the ‘front line’ in 1974.
The aircraft we had:
Fighter/fighter bombers:
Lightning
Phantom
Buccaneer
Jaguar
Harrier
Bombers:
Vulcan
Canberra
Trainers:
Jet Provost
Gnat
Hunter
Domine
Jetstream
Varsity
Transport:
Belfast
VC10
Brittania
Hercules
Andover
Pembroke
Misc:
Victor
Hastings
Argosy
Canberra
Nimrod
Aircraft that have been and gone during my 37 years +/- 15 year of my retirement (other than allnthe above!)
Tristar
Tornado
Sentry
Hawk
Bulldog
Tucano
That is not the full list by any means and doesn’t include the rotary wing fleet! How things have changed!

Re: Changing times
Rob, the Hawk T2 is now in service along with the Texan T2. Both are based at RAF Valley.
RAFAT still use the Hawk T1 but no one else.

Re: Changing times
Sad isn't it really - it's not just the diversity either, the quantities dropped right down too.

Hi Tony.
That reads like one of my project lists. Only the chipmunk is missing.
All the best

Best wishes

If you can walk away from a landing, it's a good landing. If you use the airplane the next day, it's an outstanding landing

Re: Changing times
It's taken me ages to find the Sea Vixen but can anyone find the Vulcan or Victor?
It's only pain, work through it.

Re: Changing times
The Vulcan is below the P1127’s wing (and behind the EAP) and the Victor near the top left corner just behind the VC10. There is also a camouflaged Vulcan between the blue and the orange AVRO 707s.

Re: Changing times
Wow! That is a fantastic illustration.
I will save it, thanks, Jim.
At first I was sure that it included all aircraft that had flown, but the SR.177 is there! And a couple of other very distinctive projects.
But not the Hawker P.1121 which I hope to find the courage to attempt (I have the vacform kit).
