Another cheap, practice model....Tamiya Panther.

Post by Swiftnbold »

As the title says.
I did way too much on this, the intention being to practice my airbrushing , ambush cam and effects but at least I kept the scratch building and mods to the barest minimum, I know the dots are too big and I'm aware that a Panther probably would'nt last long enough to get to this state but it is a first attempt to get some more experience.
One thing I have learned for sure about Tamiya is that their rubber tracks hate heat in any form, I absolutely mullered these almost to the point of unusable trying to stretch, straighten and mold them!

Nice weathering - I do like the rusted exhaust pipes 👍

Nicely done. I like the bent and twisted front mudguards.

I'm not really a fan of weathering, to me it's rarely effective but for you I make an exception, that is quite brilliant, it looks like a very real long abandoned tank, in a suitable diorama with the right photography most would believe it to be real

Bravo! 'super' well done!

Thanks for the kind words guys, I'm still learning basic techniques and am keen to try as many in a short time so my models end up getting overwhelmed by the variety because I try to use as many as possible in the same model.
Im sticking to cheap models as the moment so no big deal if it all goes bandy.
Tamiya PzII is on the bench currently, a bargain at £8.99 and definitely an excellent beginners model with plenty of room for all kinds of modelling experimentation.

Excellent looking Panther and I couldn't agree more, no point spending a lot of money on a kit until our abilities and techniques improve and Tamiya's lower priced stuff is just the ticket.

Thank you.
This is my 3rd model so I'm still learning it all, it was intended as a painting mule but I've decided to keep it.
I bought another one to fill that task and will liberate the tracks that i ruined to put on this one.
Cheap Tamiya PzII being built currently and almost finished, been experimenting with pigments and homemade fixers on that one.
