I pre painted as many parts as possible and I am now putting them together (and taking them apart agin because I’ve forgotten to add a part or so).

The parts are coming together. The original model features an inappropriate ‘late style’ air filter si I have fitted my early ‘cast style’ version, which fitted perfectly. I’ve built this with the engine side covers off.
Just 6 parts make up this:

I am meeting the creator of this Scammell at the R.E.M.E Museum model show this coming weekend. It might be possible to persuade him to release the ‘kit’ for sale although it does need some corrections.

That resin does look very crisp and well moulded!
Best wishes

It is amazing Jim,
Detail that simply cannot be replicated in cast resin.
I’ve had news from the creator of this model - he is enhancing the detail in the cab and designing the 2 different cab fronts (which amounts to the size of the ‘side-lights’ and the cast style air-filter). He is bringing his various models along to the model show Saturday.

I have to agree with Jim, this looks wonderfully crisp and detailed. Coming along very nicely indeed.

I had forgotten that the supplied resin mudguards foul the fuel tank on the model so I had to print a set of mine, modified to fit the kit front axle. I’ve also started putting together the TCMU-20 trailer; pretty simple compared to the ‘30. I want to get everything ready for the next airbrush session.

This is excellent stuff. I do remember many years back someone who may be the creator of this model sending me some Scammell blueprints in TIFF format, which were so big they crashed my computer. Looking forward to seeing this complete and I really hope it does get produced as a saleable kit.
The past, present, and future walked into a bar. It was tense.

I am just finishing off the TRCU-30 ‘early type’ to couple with my enhanced Airfix tractor unit. I will post some photos very shortly.

Looking forward to seeing these Tony - you're really getting me into the type - I quite fancy building a 1/35 version.

The all-resin TRMU/TRCU-20 is complete bar a couple of bits that I need to finish before SMW.

The Trumpeter versions have a good write-up. Be aware that the trailers are mis-labelled (long story). If you tell me the era you want to model (ie N.Africa, Italy, Europe) I can point you at the appropriate trailer. (Trumpeter market the trailer I’ve used as the ‘late version’ when it is the ‘early version’). All down to one person misidentifying the sequence ‘back in time’ and it being perpetuated and included in ‘definitive publications’! The correct developments becomes obvious when you know.

Great to see this just about over the finish line, Tony, your work on these Scammells is pretty inspirational.
