Battlestar Galactica Launch Tube Diorama

From Apollo and Soyuz, to Gerry Anderson, Irwin Allen, Star Wars and Trek to Babylon 5, Battlestar Galactica and those strange, doe-eyed Japanese school girls...to any model kits you can think of, that only exists in imagination.

Battlestar Galactica Launch Tube Diorama

Post by coptermech »

Just a new little project I've started working on. Saw a video on YouTube on making a Battlestar Galactica launch tube. I decided to give it a go. I recently purchased a 3D resin printer and have been experimenting with it. Most of these parts were made from free 3D files that are available. It's also going to take a bit of scratch building.

Sorry for the poor quality pics. I do everything off my phone.

In the end, hopefully, it will have LED lighting in it.
Hope everyone enjoys!!

So current progress on the launch tube....still have some pieces to print out, but did a quick mock-up of what I'm planning. Everything should fit in the display case, which is 15 inches x 3.5 inches x 3 inches. The idea is to have the Viper in take-off. Plan is to use LEDS to illuminate the exhaust plumes. The major thing is to decide on things prior to using epoxy/ cyano, or else it causes issues...lol

Seems a nice manageable size

Do t look like much, but I used FreCad, designed an upper channel for LED lights, and just came up with something for a "launch pad)ready" spot...also using FreCad. I then used the files and 3d printed them on my Halot One resin 3d printer.

I'm enjoying using both the cad software, learning it...and printing said items.
