Tamiya 1/72 Lockheed Martin F-16CJ (Block 50)

Post by Bissyboat »

A nice kit and a very nice anniversary gift from my better half. I have built a few Falcons before, but never from Tamiya. I built this bird couple of years ago and I wanted to use a camouflage scheme that had a Winter theme. I landed on this F-16C Blizzard Agrressor look. Blue and grey with white tones. Livery: Pacific Airforce, Misawa Air Base, Japan 2010. This model was brush painted with acrylics and weathered with Artist oils and Pigma Micron pens.

Best wishes

Excellent job on that and an unusual paint scheme.
It's only pain, work through it.

Very nicely done, Bissy and that is a great choice of scheme, very different to the greys that the aircraft is usually seen in. The fit of the canopy is very good to enable it to be posed open or closed like that.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Looks good Henrik 8-)
But what is this Block 50? What does it mean? Does it make any difference?

Thank you so much Shaun. It´s a loose canopy. but it can be adjusted to upright position. The F-16C with Bilzzard aggressor scheme are very different from the more conventional Falcons.

Thank you so much Richard. Block 50 is a variant of F-16 that came in the late 1991. It had new features based on weapons and navigation modifications. The F-16 was also equipped with a new engine which was the F-110 GE-129.

Thanks Henrik. So this was the 50th variation of the F-16?
I've seen Blocks mentioned on other aircraft, so I guess it just means a batch of one type of variation.
