Hobbyboss 1/48 A10 Thunderbolt II

Post by Battletweety »

This was a nice kit which was easy to put together, good fit with very little flash. I've always liked the sheer thuggery of the A10 and I wanted to load it up with as much as it could carry. The Hobbyboss kit comes with an enormous amount of ordnance, so I had no end of options to chose from.I also prefer the 3 tone camo over the overall grey anyday.
Paints were Mr Hobby H301 - Grey, H302 - Green, H303 Green and H304 - Olive Drab. These were nice paints and I had no issues airbrushing them on. I used Tamiya XF54 Dark Sea Grey for the cockpit interior.
Things I think detract from the kit which may be a problem for the serious modeller - the cockpit detail, the engine detail, the wheel bay detail, all of which are really lacking and would need after market add-ons if you really want to make this bird sing. But for my simple needs, OOB was my goal so here she is.. oh and don't forget to put weights in the nose, it will be a tail sitter if you don't..

That turned out fabulous BT! 8-)
The past, present, and future walked into a bar. It was tense.

Well done

I enjoyed watching this progress on your WW thread, BT and that is a first class build. Very, very, nice.

Very nice BT, love a nicely executed Euro 1 scheme.
