Paul's Photos from North Weald Fighter Meet 1985

Post by PaulBradley »

Following on from the other thread, here are my photos form the terrific Fighter Meet at North Weald in 1985. A much missed event. Taken on an old Praktika SLR with a 100-300mm lens on cheap, crappy film, which was all I could afford! Man, do I wish I could go back then with my modern DSLR......

The they may not be perfect but the film gives the photos a lovely quality

Great photos Paul 👍
I like the 'crappy' film look, it's very nostalgic
Best wishes

Some very nice looking photos there Paul, I'd be happy with all of those.

I wish I could go back to film, I used to think I was an okay photographer but I've never really got on with digital - I seem to be always trying to find the right exposure and I truly miss the greater exposure (dynamic?) range of film - I don't know how you guys do it. It's actually killed my interest in the hobby and I haven't got my DSLRs out of their bag for over a year.

I'd rather shoot APS!

Thanks, Paul.

I kind of miss film. With my phone or DSLR, I take tons and tons of photos and then never get round to weeding out the poorer or duplicate ones.

Two of my favorites before I sold off my film gear in 2016 - the EOS IX was one of the best SLR's I've ever used.

Sorry, I have to disagree! I always found film to be very limiting, especially being unable to afford either the best film or processing. I tried developing my slide film for a while, but the faffing around and the possibility of messing up limited that!

I much prefer the flexibility of digital - and while, yes, I can take a thousand photos in a day, it becomes very obvious when a photo is any good and I've gotten pretty good at both deleting on the camera and once they've been downloaded. And using Photoshop can 'fix' most problems (except for focus and depth of field!).

LOL! I'd just like to know how to take a landscape without the sky being totally bleached out or the ground black :-D Mind you, I was never any good at shooting slides and my digicam seems to be the same.
