AMT Star Trek OS "Shuttlecraft" bash

From Apollo and Soyuz, to Gerry Anderson, Irwin Allen, Star Wars and Trek to Babylon 5, Battlestar Galactica and those strange, doe-eyed Japanese school girls...to any model kits you can think of, that only exists in imagination.

AMT Star Trek OS "Shuttlecraft" bash

Post by LifetimeModeler »

Although I had a couple of these old kits as a child, and loved them, when Round2 done their remake I was compelled to apply some scratch built updates! This included the removal of the top panel, the side panels from the angle back, the bottom panel from the side angles back; these were replaced by layered sheets of styrene which were heat formed and repositioned to the proper positions. The aft part of the Shuttlecraft was scratched completely.

The front window panels were removed and replaced by sections of blister pack, and four figures dressed as Kirk, Spock, Scotty, and Bones were added to the updated interior.
About a year after doing this build, the new 1/32 kit came out, then an aftermarket interior! (isn't it ironic how that happens!?) Anyhow, I'm satisfied with what I got so it joined the others on the ceiling. :)

This looks to be a great kit but to be fair the price of it turns me off especially when you realize it doesn't have an interior.

Hi Dirkpit289....

This is the "Round2" remake of the old AMT kit (which does have an interior), that I scratched the exterior/personnel into compliance. I got it off Amazon for I think $19, and used spars box material to dress it up.

Outstanding work! Seems a shame to hang it from the ceiling, though - can you still see the interior without standing on a chair? :-D

Tim Reynaga - When the breeze from the fan passes, it turns and the room light illuminates Spock's face. ;)

Thank you kindly Dirk!
