Nicely done Andrew. Colour not uniform? a bit, dare I say it, patchy? I'd call it "modulated" and therefore accurate
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Missed this one, great work to all of you!
Now I am really, really tempted to get a PR Spit and build the Norwegian version in 1/48...

Will follow this thread Image

If it was intentional, and I was an AFV modeller
then it would be modulated
As it is, it's patchy. :ha:

I didn't get where I am today by calling it modulated...

MerlinJones wrote:Good progress Andrew and you are right, in that the photos make the blue look too pale. When you mixed your paint, did you do it by eye, or did you have a colourchip to compare with?

It's darker in real life!
I was using an iPhone app called iModelKit, which has lots of paint chips in it, and allows you to mix paints and compare the result with the reference. It works quite well. The final decision always is by eye though.

In this case I was matching to BS381C 636 (PRU Blue). - subtly different from the Humbrol 230 chip!

I do tend to lighten the shade in 1/72 to make it a little less intense.

After the second coat of paint, to demodulate it. Honestly, the classic lines of the most beautiful aircraft every built, and Shaun thinks it's a tank... :ha: :)

I've got to tackle the prop next. Setting individual prop blades at the right angle is soooo thrilling.

Its looking much better. I still might do something about the wingtip, but I think the rest of the paint job is now okay. I certainly won't need to do anything to highlight the panel lines :-D
But they're not as bad as you might think. I can live with them. :-D

cheers

Not amiss, just missing :)
I have a feeling I might have donated it to the Academy XIV! Fortunately I have the Pavla upgrade. It's not really any better than an injection prop, but will do the trick.

Cheers

It's like rounders, as is what our schoolgirls play...and reading that back, I can tell that my Sissel-inspired Black Russians have had some effect upon me.
