GB Guidelines update

Post by JohnRatzenberger »

I will be looking at updating the GB Guidelines near or after the New Year.
The current ones are here.

If you have a thoughts, suggestions, please put them here or if you prefer, send me a PM with GB Guidelines as subject.
If I could get your thoughts by Christmas, it would be great.

Thanks,
John Ratzenberger :???:

Very satisfied with everything, John. You do good work.

Everything seems to work OK with the GBs so I say well done John- don't let anyone fix it.
The new Shared builds have passed their first conversion to GB seamlessly and without a hiccup and so fit in perfectly also, result!

I agree with all of the above respondents John, you do a lot of good work maintaining the GBs and re the archiving. I would just add that IMHO it's not the guidelines that are at fault per se, it's generally people not following or making reference to them that causes issues.

Thanks for wrapping up the Whirlibirds GB by the way.

I not sure if something sparked this or if your doing some due diligence but from where I'm sitting things on the GB front are pretty darn good. Maybe I'll take a look through the current rules but I think it'll be a waste of time. Of course if you or someone else think there is something that needs revamping let us know what it is and I'm sure we could figure something out.

Well, since Dirk asked, nothing specific, just looking to freshen things up if needed. Not fishing for compliments either.

I probably didn't phrase my initial post well -- I'm not just looking at the Guidelines as rules, but also as philosophy.

Thanks ...

My two cents would tend to agree with all the above: the GB Guidelines are exactly that: Guidelines. They can be bent in deserving cases (the Secret Santa GB, the 109 ex-SB) but the real onus is on us to observe the guidelines and the spirit that defines them.. John does an excellent job looking after the whole thing and has been nothing but helpful, astute and wise in my dealings with him..

I have at least two nice GB proposals rattling around in what passes for my brain that I will post in the new year.. and am committed to almost all the upcoming GBs.. while having four GB models on the bench at the moment. Safe to say, I'm a happy shopper.

One thing I certainly wouldn't want changed is the number of GBs on the go at any one time - more just dilutes participation and leads to more unfinished models...
