There are definition of a periods vintage, classic etc. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_automobile; but they quite numerous. Suggest

For cars, bikes and trucks:
Vintage & antique (pre 1930),
War years (1930-1959)
Classic (1960-1979)
Modern (1980 onwards).

Trains.

We don't have a large number of vehicle builds so I don't see a need for further division.

Five categories seem reasonable to me. We'll wait for a few more comments, but I like that proposal.

cheers

Just for a discussion point;
In my world of Vintage cars we go by the following distictions;
1) Veteran - all vehicles up to 31st December 1918
2) Vintage - 1st Jan 1919 to 31st Dec 1930
3) Post-Vintage Thoroughbred [PVT] - 1st Jan 1931 to 31st Dec 1949
4) Thoroughbred Classic - 1st Jan 1950 to 31st Dec 1960
5) Common [or Everday] Classic - 1st Jan 1961 to 31st Dec 1972
6) Modern Classic - 1st Jan 1973 to [about] June 1984
7) Future Classic - [about] June 1984 to current date
There is overlap in some of these dates; eg a 1963 Ferrari would fall into 'Thouroughbred Classics'
a 1960 Morris Oxford falls into 'Common Classics', as does all Morris Minors.
And the US Americans, Australians and Japanese have their own sets of dates and categories.
But I just put this list up for information, not to have the listings categories changed

But; Personally I'd like the description 'War Years' changed for vehicles 1930 to 1959.
