I found the image using good old google. I believe it is on display at the Deutsches Museum in Oberschleissheim near Munich.

Somewhere else to add to the must visit list.

You're Mig is coming on nicely too. As a bit of interesting info the recesses just behind the main u/c bays are lights, as opposed to being ejector pin marks, which is what I've mistaken them for in the past.

Yes it took me a while to spot that one. Again something not mentioned by the instructions.

No pics today just a quick update. Last night I painted the seat & will weather it later. Once that is dry it will hopefully fit in the cockpit. :???:
Probably something I should have checked before now!

I also masked off the canopy with a combination of Tamiya tape & Maskol. I filled the small gaps at the wing to fuselage joint and drilled out the nose U\C bay floor to fill with weight because I forgot when cementing the fuselage halves together. School boy error or senior moment?

So tonight get some weight in the nose & canopy attached ready for a primer coat.

Ha ha ha, forgetting to put the noseweight in, ha ha.

Slow progress I'm afraid. Life is getting in the way.
Dazzled wrote:Ha ha ha, forgetting to put the noseweight in, ha ha.

Honest
I added the nose weight & filled the hole.

Image

I have sanded it smooth since this was taken & fitted the nose wheel. She now its up ok.
Various air scoops & filters have been fitted.

Image

The seat fits in the cockpit, just a little weathering needed before closing her up.

Image

I spent quite a while trying to get the kit canopy to fit but it was not happening so another delay has been caused whilst I cut out, mask & paint a vac canopy.
I think this is a better fit but looks a little narrow to my eyes. I will make it fit. ;-)

A few problems still to sort out. Lots of flash on all the small parts:

Image

These are supposed to be the nose gear doors.
The rear fuselage at the jet exhaust is completely out of whack! :???:

Image

Image

Not sure what to do about this. :???:

I am also having trouble sourcing the multiple bomb racks as shown on the photo in my original post. She may be rocket armed instead.
I have plenty of rocket pods going spare, the kit ones are a none starter as they look more like squirty cream dispensers!

More progress soon I hope.

Could you not use a curved file to grind away the excess or alternatively add some filler and then sand it flush?

Cream....:drool2:

I agree with Toby on the Fix OT - I'm sure you'll sort it out - other than that it's looking good!

Cheers

When I built my Intech (ex KP) Mig-21UB I made a new jet pipe from a disposeable medicine syringe. It did a lot to disguise the internal seam as well as giving some depth to the engine.

I got some time on the Mig last night whilst watching England thrash Scotland in the footy.

I took a pair of snipe nose pliers to the malformed jet exhaust and after a tense few minutes of pulling & twisting I managed to writhe it back into shape.
Well, close enough for me & a 99p KP kit. ;-)

Image

I think it looks much better although if I can find an exhaust of slightly smaller diameter in the spares box I will fit it inside the kit one as it should look like this:

Image

The replacement vac canopy is now fitted. It's much better than the kit one although I now wish I had spent more time on the cockpit! :???:

Image

I still need to build up the area immediately in front of the windscreen. It should look like this but KP seem to have missed it!

Image

Will do that tonight. The pitot tube is a spare from the Fujimi kit as the KP one was like a scaffolding pole by comparison.
So this is where she stands today. I will give her a coat of primer tonight and see what issues show up.

Image

I found some rocket pods that will do for the outer pylons in the Zvezda MiG-21Bis kit. So I am looking for either a couple of UB32 rocket pods or some FAB 250 bombs.
So if anyone can spare me some please PM me.

Overall not looking too bad so I started painting the dialectic panels, nose cone & U\C bays this morning.

This is starting to shape up nicely OT. I know exactly what you mean about the scaffold pole pitot. I spent most of an afternoon scratch building one with aoa indicators before I found a spare fujimi one.

I'm glad you didn't commit the same faux pas :)
