This is a GB for tanks and other armored fighting vehicles - any kit, any scale, any variant, any markings.
This GB started from a thread here.
The GB runs from December 1st to 31st; your GBL is Jssel who will fill in any other info.
No softskins, no whiffs - just real armored fighting vehicles.

I hope to do at least two tanks and maybe as many as four depending on what's going on a round me att.
Think I'll start with a German MkIII by Revell in 1/72

Re: Sign-up and Chat
Good morning and welcome all.
My entry will be the Airfix King Tiger. Just finished the Cromwell and thought it was a terrifc build. I have build many Airfix pieces so one more is in order.
So let's get the build threads rollin' as we are close to starting.

Re: Sign-up and Chat
If I get time I would like to build my nemesis the Airfix Churchill tank, its the only kit, I recall physically throwing it across the room at a wall, when I was about 15, way back in the sixty's, if I recall it was all the small wheels and tubed cement used straight out of the tube that caused me all the grief.
I'm currently tied up with three Card models over on the other GB, one of them ironically being a British WW1 Mk IV tank. So with luck when I get some spare time I will join you all.

My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

You are not alone. I seem to recall that it's best not to cut the wheels off the sprues until they're cemented to the suspension or something like that. I haven't been near that model since the 60s either.splash wrote:If I get time I would like to build my nemesis the Airfix Churchill tank, its the only kit, I recall physically throwing it across the room at a wall, when I was about 15, way back in the sixty's, if I recall it was all the small wheels and tubed cement used straight out of the tube that caused me all the grief.

I think you are right the small wheels fit straight onto the locating pins whilst still fitted to the sprues. I think as a kid we tried to always make the wheels work and the tracks go around, models were sold on the number of working features not accuracy then I always thought the Churchill looked old fashion more like a WW1 tank than the modern bit of machinery that it was.TobyC wrote:You are not alone. Re: Sign-up and Chat
I'm struggling with a very severe case of modeller's block. Since I retired at end of September I have done NO modelling!!! That was not how it was supposed to be!
So I have dug out the only tank kit I have and am joining the group in the hope that something totally different will get me out of the modelling doldrums.
The kit is Tamiya #35095. It's a 1/35 Japan Type1 75mm Self Propelled Gun.

Re: Sign-up and Chat
I should know better than to sign up for an armor build that last for only a month. Especially given my recently glacial pace of modeling. Still I'm tempted, as armor GBs on this site tend to be very fun.
Is it ok to play knowing danged well that I wont finish?

Give it a good tug, Ralph. The right subject chosen and then think Blitz.
