Re: planecrazyman s Do 217K1
Looks like a lot of parts yet to be stuck together so will look forward to watching the progress!
Best wishes
Jim
If you can walk away from a landing, it's a good landing. If you use the airplane the next day, it's an outstanding landing

Looking better now,
As far as I know bombers were still RLM 02 inside. I just use Humbrol 33 matt black for under sides, of if spraying I have a spray can of matt black from a car accessory shop.

I'm pretty sure that early war German bombers had RLM02 interiors. When they switched to night bombing (ish), they started specifying a darker grey RLM66 for interiors that could be seen from the outside. RLM02 remained the colour for undercarriage bays.
So, as per the original post, the 217K should have had, I think, RLM66 interior and RLM02 undercarriage bays. However, whatever the builder wishes to do is fine by me!
<edit> Underside black colour? Well if it were me, brush painting acrylics as I do, I'd use Revell 09 Anthracite, an 'off-black'. That's what I used on my Ju 188 anyway.
regards,
Martin

Nice start...I've got a night fighter version of this kit (might be a Do 215). Looks like it goes together cleanly.

hi just a quick update the Do217 has been undercoated showed up afew areas where it needs a bit more touch up painted cockpit with RLM66 and wheel wells with vallejo 101 greengrey not sure this is close enough for RLM02 plus the engines ,tried dipping canopy in new pledge (formally Klear) not great it seems to cling and has left a ripple effect need to clean it off ? and try again might try my old klear which is just starting to thicken can i thin this with anything .

Good to see you back at it and applying paint for a change! I'm sure I've heard ammonia based cleaning products strip Klear.

Re: planecrazyman s Do 217K1
Yup, anything with ammonia in it will take Klear off. Window cleaners usually have ammonia in it. Alcohol will also strip it.
As for thinning it, I wonder if ammonia will do that too.
