Re: Chip's Silver Machine
For once I have managed to get the construction completed and most of the painting done without knocking the aerial off, only to find that I have to remove it anyway.
Upon attempting to fit the rear spine I realised that I have put the aerial in the wrong place. Due to the confusing instructions the hole indicated to be cut out is not for the aerial but for the locating lug for the rear spine.
At least it is easy to fix.

Antenna mast, gun barrels and engine cowling flaps are three most delicate and most @$#^%* elements in this model.
I watch with pleasure when someone does this model, but I sometimes say ugly, when the model I do ;)

Re: Chip's Silver Machine
Sorry for the lack of updates but modelling time has been a bit short of late. That said, when I did have the odd moment here and there I managed to chip away at this and get it completed:
I really enjoyed this build. The kit goes together well and has some nice detailing. The instructions have a couple of vague areas to trip the unwary up, as ably demonstrated by myself. There are quite a few decals to go on, I often leave the smaller labels off but as they were all legible I decided to go the whole hog, and I think it looks better for them.
I usually steer away from NMF kits as I had read that they are a pain to get right, but I am quite pleased with the outcome, and will certainly be doing another.

Looks great, that. Certainly better than my own version of that kit!

Outstanding result Chip & a great tutorial on the perils of painting a NMF.
I'm a bit plan of your plan B and it turned out fine didn't it?
