Razorback "Anna Louise" ***FINISHED***
A recent resurgence of mojo has prompted me to jump into a 2nd simultaneous GB, with the Academy 1/72 Razorback version - In the markings of Lt. A.H. Rainbow - of the 391st FG - Late 1944 in France.
Overall Olive Drab, over Neutral grey - with white tail stripes and silver cowling trim.
Obligatory boxart and sprue shots:
Had most of today to myself, so while waiting for stuff to dry on another build, I've been cracking on with this.
I won't bore anyone with shots of the cockpit in progress, because it would just be a repeat of what Ratch has previously done using the same kit.
Only difference from the 'norm' is that I'm using my own 'homebrew' interior yellowish-green for cockpit, wheelbays ,etc...
After 2 or 3 hrs of tinkering, It is at this stage:
IP dry-brushed and though you can't see the interior too well here, I've given it a grimy wash.

Hi!
I see that in their models Academy provides a full set of weapons, two propellers and drop tanks.
Yellow Zinc Chromate you make very nice.
Good work, I'll be looked here.

Not quite a full set of stores Przemek, the Academy kits are missing the largest, flattened ferry tank.

Re: Razorback "Anna Louise"
for that tank, I think you need to get revell. Anyways, excellent progress on that Rainbow's airframe. If you, by any madness , decide to use checkerboard markings, tamiya thin cement was the only decal softener that worked .

That's a good start!
Best wishes

If you can walk away from a landing, it's a good landing. If you use the airplane the next day, it's an outstanding landing

Re: Razorback "Anna Louise"
Thanks chaps!
Airframe is together, canopy glued on and masked, and some of the peripherals painted.
U/C doors temporarily held in place with blu-tack - I think it's much easier to spray-paint them in the 'closed' position like this, than having to mask the wells and spray the doors separately on the end of cocktail sticks
Pics I've seen of model Jugs with those M8 110mm rocket tubes, invariably have the tubes painted either olive or neutral grey, and it never seems to look 'right' (or at least not to my sense of aesthetics) I searched a bit and found a reference to them being bare steel tubes, held together with aluminium straps - so I've done these in Humbrol Metalcote 27003 (polished steel), and gently rubbed them with tissue paper to get a metallic sheen, and straps picked out with 27002 (polished aluminium)
Hard to see in this pic, but a bit further down the line I'll try to get at least one pic that shows it better.
Also hard to see from this pic - but I've drilled into the ends of the gun barrels too.

Looking good Carlos. Don't see the triple rocket launchers very often, something a little different.

Re: Razorback "Anna Louise"
Sorry about the lack of updates, but what with other commitments, and trying to finish 3 GBs simultaneously, I've not got round to uploading pics for any of the GBs
Anyhoo..
It's been a pretty straightforward build, and I'm nearly there, just some touching up, and bits like prop, weapons, pitot, and bay doors to add.
Here it is lying upside down as the U/C struts dry in place - they were a very nice fit BTW, no need to hold in place while they set, almost a snap-fit.
I'll post pics of the other side when it's all finished.
