Fred, put your case to Lancfan; this was brought up and announced in the run-up to this GB.fredk wrote:I hope to come in, late probably, with an old moulding Airfix one. I have a special set of 617 sqd markings which this one may get.
I have the old Airfix Dam-Buster one I want to build too, but I got it second hand and a few parts are built. Props to engine fronts and maybe halves of one wing. Thus it has to be excluded from this.

I have just found a 1:144 scale Lancaster in my stash so I might find time to play.

Fred, partly built models are being trialled on this GB as long as they are not substantially complete.fredk wrote:I hope to come in, late probably, with an old moulding Airfix one. I have a special set of 617 sqd markings which this one may get.

Got the Airfix BIII Special aka Dam Busters kit off the shelf. There is far more built than I remembered. I think too much is done [?] for this one to be part of the GB. T'wud be nice to build it within the GB. However, [if] its excluded, I'll build it in my workshop thread parallel to the GB. Sort of like a 'shadow factory'.lancfan wrote:Fred, partly built models are being trialled on this GB as long as they are not substantially complete.fredk wrote:I hope to come in, late probably, with an old moulding Airfix one. Here's whats built;
main wings, engine nacelles, engine fronts/props, 1 tail plane, half a tail plane and the three wheels;Even tho these are glued up; they need finished off. It was a previous owner who did this work. The work is ok, but seams need smoothing, that sort of thing.

Quick question.
Am I right in thinking that all green/brown lanc's had all four engines painted brown?

Re: Sign-up and Chat
I have a question to all you Lancaster fans and experts. Was the bottom of the Dam-buster aircraft's modified to hold that bouncing bomb or were the bobs just hung below on that trapeze like rig? From the pictures I've found Its hard to tell. Does someone know if there is a good diagram maybe?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

Dirk,
Try this: http://www.lancaster-archive.com/pic_upkeep1.jpg; which I found by a Google for "Lancaster dambuster bomb bay".
Essentially, the doors came off, the trapeze rig went in, and a fairing put in front and back.
I'm no expert ....
