Glad the mojo's making a return Tom. The paintwork on the Bradley looks really neat and even I'm surprised at the size of the Kirov class. I might have to adjust the sea a little to make it fit ;-)

The Warrior is coming along nicely Tom. Iowa and Kalinin look pretty big in 1/700th and what great hull shapes, a pair of majestic looking battle wagons.

Thanks chaps :-D more good news today as I managed to track down a set of White Ensign etch for the Kalinin for a not too expensive £16 including the postage - sounds a little steep but not when you factor in that the set will do Two Kirov class vessels. Meaning I have spares if anything goes ping or if I'm lucky another full set for a future build. I've also splashed on some brass barrels for the 130mm guns as well.

Just the paint to lay in now but the colourcoats matches sadly will cost twice as much in postage as the paints themselves - gulp!

I envisage that this shall be something special.

Quick update tonight because I've managed a couple of hours on the Kalinin this week:

Lower hull is on, I did consider a waterline model on a sea-base but those still make me shudder after two years of box art displays  so full hull it and a stand it is. Building ships takes a bit more forethought than aircraft because of how quickly areas on deck can become inaccessible for painting - hence the deck work already starting. None of those upperworks decks are glued together yet for that exact reason (plus I've got to figure out when/how to attach all the P/E).

Great work Tom. That's a "properly" Russian deck colour :) I can't get over the size of these ships especially given their relatively low displacement. They're clearly not as heavily armoured as the Iowas.

Nice one Tom. I'm hopefully going to be building a warship during the year and it's been many moons since I last had a go at one. I'd like to start small with, say, a destroyer. One thing I have noticed is how ship models really benefit from some PE, if only used for the handrails.

Cheers guys :-D not much to show this week even though I've spent quite a few hours carefully painting back in the deck details:

That is shaping up very nicely Tom. I can imagine a ship build taking quite an amount of time due to the need to paint various bits such as the deck and superstructure separately and all those tiny components that seem to festoon such kits. This is a great looking vessel though.

Superstructure has been washed with Citadel Nuln Oil and then drybrushed with a lighter grey and various platforms have been fitted on. I've also added the liferaft containers and started work on the aft deckhouses.

Finally to get an idea of the size of this beast for those watching who haven't quite grasped it here is a comparison with a 1/700 Typhoon class. Now I want a 1/350th version :-D :
