Looking good OT, I didn't realise we had to go to the country of origin to build it. No wonder your internet connection is slow, you seem to be in a field. :ha:

You are not wrong David. I used Tamiya XF64 Red Brown for the top and once masked off I used this very old jar of Tamiya Olive Green.

Image

The green seems to have gone a little funky with age but that's OK as I wanted something that looks none standard.
So here she is with a coat of clear just waiting for decals:

So tonight I will start decalling and working on the canopy, prop U\C etc.

I didn't go that far Molly, just to Wales which is remote enough for me. I did find a link to the 'Myanmar defence museum' (which seems to be a monument to the Military dictators of Burma)
where I found this image (via another link :???: IIRC)

Image

It appears to show a very strange drop tank. I might see if I can scratch one like it - or maybe leave it off!

Nice paint job. Really will look unusual in those colours and 'roundels'.

Its looking very well.
The drop tank is rather like a late version Hurricane's. You could use an early type and remove the re-enforcement straps - if you have one. Spitfires did occasionally use Hurricane drop tanks.
Al speling misteaks aer all mi own werk..
Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

I spent a very frustrating evening with some Carpena decals yesterday. :frown:

I don't know whether it was there age or something else but as soon as they touched plastic they were sod to move. I damaged one of the upper wing roundals trying to adjust its position so in the end I got it as close as I could and left it.

Anyway, I got there in the end:

A little white paint should sort that out.

As you can see I attached the U\C legs & tail wheel.
Since this was taken I have tried to fit the canopy. Definitely the worst fitting part of the kit and seems a little undersized.
Anyway, I am getting there and hope to fit the prop, wheels & exhausts tonight.

I had a similar problem with the decals on my Fokker's top wing; they wouldn't shift due to the corrugations. I had to try and them on exactly right.
A touch up will hide that area on yours, At least its white and you don't have to try to colour match.

Frustrating about that decal but at least it's white that needs touching up. Looks lovely with them on.

Nearly there with this one. Unfortunately life intervened and took me away from the bench this week.
The spitfire has just had a coat of Klear to seal everything in. So next I need to fit the rockets, U\C doors, aerial and wingtip lights. That's it.

I am calling this one done although I am not happy with the canopy fit or whip antenna . :frown:

I decided against installing the unusual drop-tank as it looks quite ungainly. I will attempt to get some better pics this weekend weather permitting.
