Re: 2015 Display Table Design Thread
Great effort Al and the three tier rear shelf is an excellent idea for displaying the static stock. As far as the signs go I don't have an issue save out of the two variants of the Airfix sign, I prefer the logo on the scroll and I must admit to long having a penchant for the classic round Airfix style logo, which again features the scroll. I think Paul has a point with the colour of the shelves, perhaps a more neutral pale grey?

This may be a tad late, but I only noticed this afternoon that I have the big CBK logo sign in my garage! FWIW, it's 58cm high, and 66 cm wide. Which may be useful to know if we want to affix it on the backboard below the shelves...
Sorry, guys... I had really forgotten that I had custody!

Far to big for the backboard Matt, but good to know you still have it.mattbacon wrote:This may be a tad late, but I only noticed this afternoon that I have the big CBK logo sign in my garage! Front of table?
All models are equal. Some models are more equal than others.

Re: 2015 Display Table Design Thread
Are you going to leave the framework area of the background open under the display tracks? Was thinking some bulletin board material (cork board) would look good and make it easy to attach box tops, instructions, advertising, etc.
I actually like the purple but that could just be me. Does the CBK have an "official" color scheme?

Yes, I have some hardboard - recycled from a couple of 6 feet tall IKEA CD towers - that I will use to block in the area below the shelves where we can attach the items you mention Phil. The purple used is actually a continuation of the paint I had left over from doing the baseboards. I have absolutely no budget and very little inclination to paint the shelves any other colour at this stage having already spent hours on the whole shebang.philp wrote:Are you going to leave the framework area of the background open under the display tracks? I don't think we have an official colour scheme for the CBK, but I stand to be corrected.
Cheers
Al.

Fair enough. I just didn't want it to clash with one of James' shirts.

That is a good point Paul but think he will be wearing the CBK shirt, won't you James?

Re: 2015 Display Table Design Thread
Sadly I have to announce that after several attempts with the layout this weekend I'm afraid I'm chucking the towel in - I just can't get the trains to run properly - maybe the track is too old or something, I just don't know. I was using a mains powered transformer for the test but the running was just too erratic to let the public have a go. So, basically it will now be a completely static display. Sorry to disappoint those who were looking forward to driving a train.
On a brighter note - due to the huge amount of peer pressure (and the fact I didn't really like it anyway) I have now repainted the shelf unit in Southern Railways green and cream colours. Photos later when I've put another coat or two on.
Cheers (albeit through gritted teeth and tears of disappointment)
Al

No worries, Al - it's that time of year; maybe it was the wrong sort of leaves on the line...?

You must be gutted after all the work you have put into the display.
Never mind it means you have less to go wrong on the day and the display will still be stunning.
Thanks for all the hard work you have put into it.

That's a great shame Al after all of your hard work and I can well understand your disappointment. It will still be an excellent display though! (as well as the leaves, we could also add the wrong type of snow ).
