Re: Easier posting of images - mission accomplished.
Thanks everyone for pointing out the 'Post image' button in the forum! TBH i hadn't even seen it but i used it tonight and found it much easier than the way i woz doing it! For the past couple of days i have tried all sorts of things, all to no avail but this actually works well.

Their servers appear to be offline. Are any pictures already hosted there still visible?

Mine are James, certainly the ones I posted yesterday.
Hopefully it's just their server having a brain-fart

I can see some of mine, but not all. It's very odd. My latest posts are via Flickr, which is much more stable, but with limited free storage. I'd much rather use PostImage to save that space.

It may be just the front end servers then including the website.

Re: Easier posting of images - mission accomplished.
I noticed that none of the images I added using PostImage are currently available and I get a server error when I try to upload new ones.

PostImage is certainly not 100% reliable at the moment - but you get what you pay for!

Re: Easier posting of images with Post Image.
A little history, if I may, on this topic. A long time ago, in a galaxy far away, a small but determined group of renegade modellers were about to be evicted from their long time home on Forumer, and the decision was taken to make their own damn forum. And they did, and it's thanks to people like James, Andrew, Paul, John, Jeff, Gregg, Matt, Al, and many others who were there at the time that we have this little den of iniquity now. Some of the guys involved learned to code in php even as they were writing that code, and much fun and games were had, well into the hours of early morning. It was a massive team effort and this site, just like the previous Forumer site, stands as a tribute to the people involved who make no money from it and do it just for the love. Another decision taken was never to ask the members for contributions towards the costs of the site and never to allow ads to help towards the costs.
It was also at that same time when Photobucket, which was by a long way the most popular image host on UAMF, initiated its Kristalnacht event and held all its users to ransom. This was an additional problem on top of the initial problem of making a whole new forum. Photobucket basically did a Tumblr on itself and is now probably the least popular of all online image hosts. There's a lesson to be drawn from that.
Initially, there was a brief effort to make a UAMF specific image host but the legals and the costs were, quite frankly, a whole new day job paying no money so it was a non-starter. Post Image was selected because it had a long history of reliable and free service, and 11 years later it's still going strong and reliably. That was, in hindsight, a good choice. The seamless integration into the forum was a welcome bonus and I think UAMF is unique in this respect, and it's a very nice feature that we have.
It won't always work because Post Image has to go down for maintenance just like any other site, and if you really need a free back up host I'd suggest Imgur as another free to use service that has been around for a very long time and won't be going away soon. It also generates phpBB code for easy copy and paste.
Of course you don't have to use Post Image, if you have something you prefer to use, use it, but it's one of the features of UAMF that makes it very user friendly, which was another design criterion, just bear in mind it will not always be available, so have a back up plan.

Re: Easier posting of images with Post Image.
Anyone else having issues with PostImage these last couple of days? For me it has been slow to load, and not always correctly showing images.
