In with a Zlin **Le Zlin est Fin**

This is the civilian version of the Zlin 42 trainer. Even by Hobbyboss Easy build standards, there's not too much to it. About a dozen parts and twenty decals!
Image

Fuselage and wings are in clear plastic, for no obvious reason!

Image

Markings for only one aircraft, but an attractive colour scheme, so that's no problem.

Image

I hope I have a decent paint match for the dark blue in the paint stash.

Cheers

Andrew

Nice. I would imagine it's fairly small ;-)

Yes, it's pretty tiny, the standard Hobbyboss box could fit 2 kits in it with no problem!

Here's the fuselage and wings.
Wingspan is around 10 cm

The wings look like little plastic rulers with the etched lines carved in them

I think that's the first clear kit I've seen from HB.

Me too and it's a bit odd really, it's not as if there are lots of windows...

The basic colour inside is light blue grey. The seats are darker, although there are big variations on seat cushions. Sheepskin seems popular. I'll add seat belts.

So here's the interior finished, I added foil seat belts, and the lever between the two seats, which is the aileron control.

Image

Now that the interior is in place, the top part of the fuselage is not a good fit.

A bit of fettling will be needed.

Cheers

Andrew

A very small bit of fettling as it turned out. There was a stub on the underside of the upper fuselage which needed removing!

The mix of clear plastic and inside painted clear plastic makes it difficult to see where the seams might be a problem.

Nice work. I can really see what you mean about the ruler now ;-)

Uncanny, isn't it?
Should do a Do-17 Flying Pencil to go with it :ha:

I managed to get the decal on the cockpit coaming yesterday, so hopefully I can get the rest assembled soon. Busy day today though so modelling time might be scarce!

A little plastic putty in the seams. A gentle spray with a bit of grey paint should show up the faults.

Image

But the canopy needs masking first.

Image

Straightforward so far. The canopy has snapped in place and might prove tricky to remove again!

Some grey paint sprayed on the seams.

Everything seems to be in good order, surprisingly.

White primer on the undersides.

I can't see any obvious horrors on the seams
