Start them young.

Post by Gregers »

Well, today was a big day in the Wilson household. Greg JNR asked if he could make a model. Whilst I was having a quick look through the loft I came across quite a few choices suitable for a first kit, but for a 5 year old the choice somewhat narrowed. He called up and asked if he could have a model tank just as I picked up a couple of Armorfast STUG III kits. PERFECT.

I got the tanks down with some glue and paints and we set to work, Jack also joined in as we had three STUGs to go at. I'll let the pics tell the story but apart from me separating the parts from the runners and applying most the glue and showing him where the parts go it's all his own work.

Ready to start.

Fine job on that tank; he's going to be a fine 3D artist.

Looks like the future of modelling is in safe hands! Great to see youngsters making a start in what I hope will become a life long hobby and source of enjoyment
Best wishes

Nicely done there Greg Jnr! A very proud moment for Greg Snr. Excellent start to what will hopefully be a long modelling career.

Well done both. Nice to see a young one so engaged. Makes me nostalgic for my own son's start. My grandson will be ready for Baby's First Spitfire in another couple of years.

Cheers guys. I showed Greg Jnr this thread last night and read the comments to him. He was grinning from ear to ear. If he wants to build more I'll have to sign him up on the forum, trouble with that would be if he decides to stake a claim on my stash. An over 600 kit listing in the 'my stash has grown' thread!!!

All the best.

Ah but the possibilities... Suddenly, your stash has been reduced to a bare minimum. Surely, the powers that be would understand you really need to buy a few brand new kits to compensate...
