I am hoping that tomorrow I have the yellow on the fuselage fixed -- all the red, and the yellow on flying surfaces is already fixed.
I've been using Vallejo - red was easy, yellow requires an eyeball mix and doesn't cover well ...

I am still annoyed - the fuselage won't look right from the right side.

Vallejo yellow needs their sand primer underneath to cover properly. I'm sure you'll get it right. Did you run out of Tamiya yellow spray?

I find with Vallejo yellow it needs an undercoat of dayglo orange or red to give it body

No, but I didn't feel like trying to mask it and possibly tear something else. I may not get away with it and have to do that anyway. And yes, I completely forgot your remark in another build about the sand primer :frown:

I gave up, scrubbed it up a bit, masked and sprayed -- it'll do, time to carry on.

Back .... paint more or less repaired, lower wing and stab on .... I had same problem as last one in that the lower wing and fuselage need work to get them to fit, as does the stab-to-fuselage -- too tight a fit, made worse by paint, especially rattle-can enamel ...

Image

I'm going to keep (slowly) decaling and assembling and touching up until it looks assembled correctly, then gloss it all down ....

Usual apology for lack of pix, but not much really happened other than wasting time trying to repair the paint ....

Nice and bright. In a couple of colours I find difficult to get a nice finish with.

Dang !! I have not been careful in my research.

Online images show the fuel tank to be yellow also, so I have to repaint that - not sure why I thought it was NM. The decal sheet didn't show it.

I also am representing the period aircraft, not a modern version of same, so I left the anti-stall section off the fuselage - I can see images of "Swedish" TM's with the anti-stall thingy ...

And I cannot help but think the tailplane colors would have blended better if reversed -- the stab red and the elev yellow -- but it is what it is ...

Not really. My efforts to get the tank painted caused more problems and I ended up with runs, etc.
I decided to turn one of my kits into a hangar queen and took out the upper wing and tank and started the paint job from the start.

Got the yellow on and it isn't the same as the rest of the aircraft, painted earlier.

I am going to decal the fuselage and lowerwing, let them sit, then put on a gloss coat. If that brings the two closer then I'll continue, otherwise, I am a DNF.

The problem has been all the other things dragging on me ....

Those who live by the rattle-can will die by it ....

Seems like you tempted fate with your first post. Keep at it though, I am sure it will look fine once the decals are on.

OK, my huge apology to Fred and all the members of this GB for my horrible participation. I have been timeslicing for over a month and not spent very much time, productive or not, at the bench. You have seen the ill-effects in the very few posts I have made.

Good news, for me at least, is that everything slowed down once I got home last night and while I'm still busier than I want to be, I can actually breathe a bit.

Here's the TM. I have decaled the lower wing and fuselage, added all the parts thereto, and touched up paint. BTW, I found a bottle of Tamiya Yellow and it matches quite well to the rattle can and would have solved many problems a couple weeks ago.

Image

Tomorrow, I'm going to gloss coat this and see if that doesn't solve the color mismatch.

The upper wing (a new one) has been painted and will be decaled and readied for the struts.

Beautiful work John. Still watching with interest but don't spoil it trying to rush the finish, this is going to look more than a bit special.

All the best.
