Gave her a squirt of grey primer. I'm thinking of leaving it this colour even though it's a bit darker than the recommended Humbrol 64

Thanks. More small parts done. The instructions have the life rings done in the same grey as the hull, but I've ignored that. I like mine better

Image

Spent a couple of days checking out fire extinguishers, and made this

Image

This is more like what I pictured in my mind the first time. Stuck two black discs on the wheelhouse and scratched off some paint to make them look like instrument faces. They probably won't be seen once they're inside

Image

Have done a couple of touch-ups to the primer, when that's dry I'll mask up for the bottom colour.

Shaping up very well Nigel and the extra detailing is a worthwhile effort IMHO.

Thanks gents. A little more progress. Construction is mostly finished, just need to matt it down. lightly weather and add the figures. I've started, but not yet finished them

And the colours? A couple of aerosol cans. Household Grey Primer with the bottom colour described on the can as Terracotta. I'm happy with it  At least I got a nice straight, sharp demarcation between the colours

That's come out nice with your additional bits n bobs. Are you using really fine chain or thread for the wires on tailgate. Sometimes I have used thin picture hanging wire as it is good for steel cables on military vehicles this scale

Thanks Paul and Chris.
For the ramp cable I'm using some grey elastic thread. Got one side started, and it looks like this

Image

It meets the ramp a bit lower, and I'll make a couple of loops to fix it to.
Did some painting of the crew

A light wash and dry brush should suffice on these.

Your cable wire (elastic) looks just the ticket. The 3-men in that set are a nicely moulded trio and have good detail and ridges in them for taking a wash etc.

The figures look excellent, why can't Airfix still produce figures in these natural poses in their newer kits?
