Marky's 1/24th Spitfire Vb ***FINISHED***

Post by MarkyM607 »

I've recently bought this from Wonderland Models, it was £29-99 reduced from £59-99, worth grabbing at that price. There is some flash around the smaller parts but it does clean up nicely. This was all I managed yesterday and this morning. I've also added a few bits to the right side of the fuselage.

Good start Mark; I will watch with interest as I have this one in the stash as well!
Best wishes

Good start. I pulled mine out today to throw some paint at it.

What colour scheme are you going for?

To be honest the one in the kit, which is RF.D, well known Polish pilot (who's name I forgot and probably can't say anyway!). I looked for other marking choices on Hannants but there wasn't much and it was all around a tenner. Not sure I really fancied any of the schemes enough to spend!!. Might look again, the Vb was/is a favourite of mine having built more than a few of Airfix's 1/72 version.

I know the feeling. I decided to do mine as the desert aircraft so it was different.

Zumbach is something of a legend. His story is worth checking out:

If I remember correctly, he tried to "borrow" the three Spitfires used for the film "The Longest Day" to bolster his air force in Africa!

Not much progress due to the Blitzbau!. However the interior is mostly done. I seem to have forgotten that I wanted to build this wheels up and have put home made seatbelts in and not built the pilot...

Pilot is now underway.

Stalled a bit on this one, the engine shows signs of not being a perfect fit, the frame over the top front won't touch as it does when the engine is removed. Not sure whether to put it in now. However work has resumed today with more painting on the pilot, will try and get pics up soon.
