Titan tackles a serpent****Finished****
I made the title sound more dramatic than it should have...lol
I hope to be doing at least three builds for this GB, so I will start with something simple for the first one just to get my eye back in.
This kit has been kicking around for yonks in my stash so I will be glad to get it done, so a quick build I feel is all this deserves.....
Regards
Mark

Getting off to a flying start! Looks like a nice kit
Best wishes

Re: Titan tackles a serpent
The new updated wing and pylon sprue in the fifth shot is nice and sharp whereas the rest of the sprues from the original kit are getting on with some flash and softer detail but it's a cobra so I'll overlook that but doubt I will be using the crew...

Re: Titan tackles a serpent
Are you going for the kits supplied markings or have some other plan?
My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

Re: Titan tackles a serpent
Thanks guys..
I am going for the kit decals as I quite like them and they are usable, to be honest though this was always going to be an OOB build.
The cockpit has been assembled, I just added some fantasy seatbelts as I don't think a clear view will been seen through the canopy even after a coat or two of Klear.
Test fitted the cockpit tub and all is good I may fill in the back a tad.
And plopped on the Kleared canopy for good measure which shows a high degree of distortion but fits surprisingly well, again a little filling is needed but no shims so that's a good thing.

The cockpit is excellent. The distortion is not obvious.

It's my model and I'll do what I want with it.

Re: Titan tackles a serpent
Well after my time off with holidays and just generally doing life things after a busy few work months I think it's time to get back to this.
The skids were added before my break but as you can see they were very misshaped.
A large gap at the engine cover which will need to be filled.
I managed to get the skids sort of level by dipping them into hot water and bending gently level. Then I sprayed a coat of primer over the model to see if I had anymore sanding to do and as you can see from the photos....I did. lol
I cleaned up all the seams and then got to work sticking the canopy on, once the glue had dried I micro meshed it flush with the fuselage sides as it was not a very good fit and masked it off.
It's got another primer coat and all seems good for a coat of green tomorrow.

Re: Titan tackles a serpent
The helicopter is nice but the model is a pig, warped bits and such which is really consuming a lot of time to put right...... but that's the fun isn't it.
OK last night I added a dark green which then got a coat of klear.
This morning I masked a few panels and then added some white to the dark green to make umm....light green and sprayed the panels...
Looks very patchy doesn't it? but not to worry as it is all part of the plan.
Next I added a few less drops of white into the dark green to give me a medium green and I also thinned this down by 50% using thinners and the result was this...
The panels are there and when the model gets another coat of klear these will show a little more as the klear reacts with the thin coat of medium green taking some off the panels... and making the non panelled areas slightly darker
