Re: A Kit Bashers Bench
This is the Mig with its first coat of paint,Revell suggest their grey 77 but I dont use Revell paint. As a weilder of the hairy stick I find thinned Xtracolour really good.
Re: A Kit Bashers Bench
Got to give it a going over with wet and dry and then another coat of paint.

Re: A Kit Bashers Bench
Disaster, after sanding down the first coat, I proceeded with the second coat and the paint started bubbling and crazing. I dont know how that happened. Nothing for it but to get out the oven cleaner and start again. This is supposed to be something I do to relax.
Re: A Kit Bashers Bench
After an hour soaked in oven cleaner, the mig was dried with my wifes hairdryer{without her knowing} and reprimed and cockpit on and covered in maskol.
This time I will use a different brand of paint.

Your models show some great work. The Fulcrum was coming along as well. What do you mean the paint started to bubble? Was it lifting off or were you getting little pits? The first layer looked very smooth. What kind of thinner do you use? I am not familiar with Xtracolour.
I agree with Jeff, the bases look really good with the models and shows them off nicely.
Sorry to here about your job. Sincerely hope you find another one shortly.

Thanks for the kind words PGAS,the paint stared to lift and bubble, never happened before.Xtracolour is a decal ready paint{gloss} made by Hannants.I have used Humbrol enamel this time.PGAS wrote:Your models show some great work. Re: A Kit Bashers Bench
This was my first ever jet build, not long after this photo it fell off the shelf and shattered.
Re: A Kit Bashers Bench
My second jet ever has no decals because there were no decals in the box and I have never done a French aircraft before so none in the spares box.
Re: A Kit Bashers Bench
So there you have it, only ever completed two jets, one falls of a shelf and one has no decals, not too good is it. :frown:And I even put the Mirages fuel tank on wonky.
Re: A Kit Bashers Bench
My Mig is back from the paint shop with no dramas this time.
So all is good so far .
