Reach for the Stars **Finished**

A Whiffery GB for any type of model. Simple decal changes, mild surgery or major. But all must have a story to back it up, no matter how silly or unbelievable.
The GB runs from 15 Sep through 16 Oct, and your host is FredK.

Got some plastic cut and stuck;

Change in specification; its getting a conformal belly tank, ala a Meteor

Tis odd. I built this kit a while back and every thing fitted well. Not this time, the intakes don't fit well, lined up on one part the top is too low and the bottom too low on one side and the bottom too high on the other. The bottom centre of the fuselage had to be shimmed to get to fit neatly

Oh, what a filler-fest. It got me thinking, anybody else remember using dope and talcum powder as a filler? As recommended by Airfix Magazine. Those were the days: aren't we glad they're over? The parts probably don't fit because they've withered with age, a bit like people. I'm currently waiting for someone to shim down my centre bottom, too. :???:

I remember the Airfix magazines and some books giving the recipe for talc & dope. But I were posh, my father supplied me with 'plastic wood' - its a filler which is wood coloured.
Nothing more to show. Fillers sanded down, more applied and sanded down, more applied and sanded down. Now waiting on the fuselage to dry and I'll give the fillered bits a primer coat and see how much more work is needed on them.

Now got it mostly together;

Waiting on the matt black drying, then I need to sand the pitot cone to fit.
The MiB got some gubbins to look at. I had to add cushoins to the seats for the crew I'll be using; on a trial fit a Matchbox pilot couldn't see over the cockpit edge!

Second coat of paint on underneath, then masked and first coat of dark sea grey on the topside.
I was trying to be extra careful whilst handling this.. and I dropped it, breaking off the pitot.
So I took the opportunity to reprofile the nose a bit and add an IFR;

Second coat of dsg is on. Dark green goes on later.
