Have Go, this is the first time I have done anything like this. I wish I had done much earlier, I am really enjoying this project. next step is to make my own fencing, and to make the branches on the overgrowth more greener/browner, if that makes sense.

Happy modelling

New addition to my workbench tools arrived today.

Master Tools paint stirrer. If it fails to mix the paints, at least I can use it to refresh the head on my Beer.

Well I had to try it out on something.

Construction of the gate and fencing has begun. For the diorama.

Not going to be a quick process at first, but I think once you have got the first part built, the rest will have a datum point to work from.

Just getting my tools together to build my gate and fence for the Land Rover Diorama.

Ok I admit the excavator is a bit over the top, just wait till you see the boring machine for the holes.

Nothing like a bit of fun while modelling.

Keep safe till the next time.

Personally, I think you might find the saw as being a tad over sized too :-D
Best wishes

I think I am calling this one finished-ish

I have been going back to this and changing the layout, the rustic looking fencing was a lucky error, after I painted the wood with weathering compounds, I sprayed it with Humbrol Matt varnish, and after it had dried it had white patches that made it look more realistic.

best

Hi Graham,
just been catching up. Just a thought as regards your Landrover - The body panels are made of aluminium, so no rust!

I think that is a good looking dio, Graham and the fact that it features a civilian vehicle rather than the more often seen military subjects makes for a refreshing change. Despite the ally body panels, Landies can show areas of corrosion where the aluminium meets the steel components.

That looks superb. Agreed re the body panels but the bulkhead under the windscreen and down to the chassis is steel. Corrosion tends to spread mainly on the foot Wells and door hinges.
As an aside I have seen people start and once myself a stared and drove a Landy that looked worse than this.

All the best

Thanks for all the comments.
So I guess this may not be finished, one thing I did not do was to seal it, so change rust to green/brown streaks.
I love modelling me.

Take care everyone

In regard to things not going rusty, maybe I should paid more attention to this.

It has been there for years, past it so many times, but I only took this photo last week, before lock down.
Looks like a good subject to make, just need to find an ambulance to convert.

Till the next time.

Take care.
