Re: Mav's SMW 2018 Build
OK so tonight whilst watching a Live YouTube Stream I got to work with painting all the Foxbat's "little extras".
So the 2 shades of grey on the leading edge of the tail:
Then the two under fuselage fins:
And the black around the cockpit area:
For this I used Vallejo Model Air Agressor Gray 71.274, Dark Sea Gray 71.053 and Black 71.057.

Those decals sound like they were a bit of a challenge! Looking good though, the model is really coming to life now.

Re: Mav's SMW 2018 Build
They sure we're Shaun but I actually quite like Condor's decall as they are no means fragile so they can be worked but they do not react with Micro Set and Sol at all!
Thanks Kit it sure is let's just hope she makes it!
Tonight I managed to get most of what I had planned to do on the Foxbat done, what I did not expect was to make a wrong move and send her flying a few feet to the ground causing one of her horizontal stabilisers and the other wing probe to break off as well as setting the nose weight loose so she now rattles when she's picked up.
So with her being very much Russian built and Ukrainian flown during the Cold War she needed a wash....or 100!
I've only given the grey paint a black wash, I'm going to give the engine silver a rust wash tomorrow see what effect is given.

Re: Mav's SMW 2018 Build
Excellent, that is looking like a well used but not abused Foxbat now! I'm something of a specialist at dropping finished or nearly finished models if you want some tips, you know, stuff like making sure you fumble your latest masterpiece properly so that it misses the soft carpet and hits the hard tiles, that kind of thing

Re: Mav's SMW 2018 Build
Thanks mate!
Haha apparently I am now as she's been on another test flight haha.
That happened last night as well as fixing the weathering to not make it look so streaky, I've put both antenna on and fixed the 2 horizontal stabilisers back on.

Marvellous, it's great to see her done and dusted, Adam. If that aircraft doesn't say "Cold War" to people then I don't know what will!! Top job

Thank you Shaun!
Well after a fantastic weekend at SMW18 plans are under way for neXT year's builds!
Have we decided on a theme yet?

No theme mate. Cold War is our subject and remit so we'll leave themes to the clubs.

Wherever there's danger, wherever there's trouble, wherever there's important work to be done....I'll be somewhere else building a model!
