Re: iggie's modelling table
Guilty as charged Waste not, want not though
Battle has commenced with rigging the Albatross, the usual knitting-in elastic and superglue, then a lick of paint to darken it

If you can walk away from a landing, it's a good landing. If you use the airplane the next day, it's an outstanding landing

Nice Iggie. I really like the way rigging completes a bi-plane. Splendid work.
B-17 is coming along as well. Looks like another winner.

Re: iggie's modelling table
Thanks Paul; the rigging does tend to set off a bipe nicely, even when not totally accurate
Proceedings came to a grinding halt last night as I dropped one of my storage boxes off the bench.....laziness on my part, and the carpet monster had a field day!
You can see the B-17 in the background, it has had a coat of Duraluminum, but there are some strange semi-circular lines appearing on the wings. There is no detectable line in the plastic, and I suspect it is flow lines showing due to the tiny change in texture of the plastic; certainly not visible before painting I'll try another coat later and see what happens

Re: iggie's modelling table
Well, I'm not an overly happy bunny; the circular patterns on the B-17 wings are still showing through after another coast of metallic......not as bad but still there none the less
Before
After, including rubbing down between coats
I suspect that a thicker paint even thinned for spraying may cover it but be aware if you are intending to build one of these. I'm going to press on with it as I don't think more coats is going to improve matters
On a happier note, the Albatross is nearly done

Re: iggie's modelling table
That's what I used between coats. There's absolutely no visible or tangible ridge, line or recess; its baffling!

Re: iggie's modelling table
As promised, the Albatross is finished. It's a great little kit, and the ridiculous machine guns apart, it belies it's venerable age!
Best wishes

I've also seen this Albatros in the aviation section. What a great finish, those old Revell WW I kits can be built into very nice models albeit with some parts replaced by better offerings!

Great Albatross, but what flavour is it?
Re: iggie's modelling table
Quite the conundrum with the Fort. Thanks for the heads up. Will be watching your remedy. Wonder if a primer coat would have worked. Looks like you are slowly taming the beast.

That issue with the B-17 is very strange indeed Iggie and is something I have never seen before. Best get Mulder and Scully to take a look at that one!
