Yet another German cancelled project.
Using a chassis from a previous cancelled project, and mounting a 128mm main gun, 2 where built for test before the project was cancelled, partly due to the powers that be deciding that the already in service 88mm gun was more than adequate. Which it was. however with the cancellation of the project, both chassis's where issued to front line units on the eastern front. One was destroyed fairly early, the other was later captured intact by the Russians with 31 kill marks on the barrel.

The kit used is the Trumpeter offering, and is of course well detailed and excellent.

Another interesting and nicely done armour build from you, General and this design at least made it off the drawing board! The chassis looks reminiscent of a stretched Mark IV with interleaved road wheels but with that odd looking gap between the final set of wheels and the rear idler although there was probably a sound design reason for the layout. I imagine that 128mm gun would have stopped anything at the time.

The chassis was based on an earlier heavy tank (vk30.01), the competitor for the same contract, the "Dicker Max" (fat Max) was based on the Panzer 4 chassis. I have recently completed a Dicker Max and will upload pictures in the near future.

The German hierarchy apparently thought anything bigger than the 88mm gun unnecessary. 31-nil says differently.
