Re: Dollar's Vault
I've got one of these Tomcats in the stash. It was a lot cheaper than the Tamiya 32nd scale kit, suited my cheapskate nature

Oh man that Tomcat must be pretty huge in 1/32nd, Dollar, but it's an impressive beast nonetheless

Re: Dollar's Vault
Nicely done on getting such a neat result....but what's with the lighter fluid?
It can't be that bad a model

Re: Dollar's Vault
I used mineral spirits to wipe off the excess white out. Then the lighter fluid to get the final wipe down. It’s not as aggressive as the spirits.

Re: Dollar's Vault
Ive just broken the seal on the box!
The sprues...
The clear parts such as they are, I really like the dimples in the side windows!
And the flash!! not too bad really. I've had a lot worse to clean up.
And last but not least the very nicely done Cartograf decals!
'm doing this as a shared build in the SST Shared Build forum. Just thought I'd stick it in here to keep it alive.

Impressive
All models are equal. Some models are more equal than others.

Re: Dollar's Vault
Thanks Ratch!I got some more time at the bench today. I did a lot of little fiddly bits, the landing gear doors that are closed on the ground were glued in place. And the flaperon actuators fairing were glued on too.
While that was drying I started hand painting the main landing gear components.
Then I tackled the engine pods. Got the turbine faces painted and glued in and then just slopped some flat black in the after end so it wouldnt look like the hollow box that it is when viewed from the back.
That's about all I'll get to do today, the wife and i are going to see a film and taking our grandson to see THE AVENGERS.

Re: Dollar's Vault
I missed the start of this one, Dollar. What a beautiful aircraft the Concorde is and what a great shame she no longer graces the skies. This looks to be a decent kit and I note offers the earlier and later BA schemes plus Revell has gone down the decal route for at least the passenger side windows which I prefer in 1/144th. I really don't like transparencies in this scale for airliners and nearly always I'll fill window apertures (including the flight deck) and use decals, often resorting to replacement after market items if necessary.

Re: Dollar's Vault
Nicely done, Dollar, gloss white can be a tricky colour to apply in my experience and often I'll airbrush matt white, as I find that goes on better and then apply gloss clear coats to obtain the depth of shine that I'm after.

Re: Dollar's Vault
I’m with you on that. All I had in hand was a rattle can of gloss white. I’m still going to hit it with a coat or two of Pledge. There are dull spots here and there that need fixing.
