Seriously though all my models get paint rubbed off on my fingers when handling regardless of varnishes etc. I tidy them up at the end but yours look pristine all the way through a build. It's black magic.

Maybe the secret is some industrial grade 2 component resin clear varnish...
I know what you mean regarding paint wear. At least after assembly a final coat of Revell 02 with some ModelMaster Satin clear works for me to protect from handling and cleaning. But such a clean and tidy bench and assembly process as Mike's will probably also remain a secret to me..

Thanks guys The Heinkel is now officially a biplane. I drilled all the holes for the rigging before attaching the upper wing. Cabane struts went on first, using good old styrene cement from a tube to give me lots of positioning time, and then the interplane struts.

I used the UVDR thread for the rigging, pulling the wires all the way through the upper wing, then filling and sanding the connection holes. (That was much quicker to type than actually execute, I spent about 5 hours just getting the wing strings in place, and there's still the undercarriage bracing to do.) Now it's a case of painting the upper wing and adding the last few decals.

Rigging biplanes using your method is very time-consuming but the results make it very worthwhile. Excellent looking (nearly) real aeroplane.

Tube cement! What a brilliantly simple idea! Going to pick some up for the Vildebeest (and other biplanes that arrived in the mail today). I might take a few deep sniffs, too.

Your Heinkel is a thing of great beauty. How many actual sessions of work between these pictures and the previous? I imagine the five hours of wing setting didn't all happen in a single session of modeling?
