Nice work! And hopefully the decals will set nicely on a gloss finish.

Excellent stuff, it's good to see this back on the go after all appeared to be lost - hopefully the build will not give you any further major problems, you deserve a great finish out of this one!

I'm so glad you decided to persevere with your Catalina!

I really like that glossy black scheme, seems perfect for night ops.

Looks like you're well on the way to building a real stunner!

Thank you sirs.
Small update..... Engine fronts got some paint. Man I hate them molded into the cowls

Here's the cockpit transparency. I believe it falls in the jam jar category, and us to the usual "old Airfix" quality. It's had it's Future bath so all I have to do is mask and paint. To bad the framing shadow lines are more easy to see than the lines themselves.

That's all for now........

Excellent work, the gloss black looks brilliant and the rivets give texture and break up the single colour.

I have to agree, Dollar, moulded-in engines are a pain to paint! You're doing a great job though.

I, too find those molded in engines auk-ward at best.

You certainly made them look more realistic than I've ever managed. I probably wouldn't have caught that they weren't separate pieces if you hadn't clued us in.

You've also done some nice work on the canopy. I think you've got the makings of a model many of us would be glad to give pride-of-place to!

To add insult to injury, I now find I'm in the market for a new compressor. I went to fire it up after giving the airbrush a breakdown and thourough cleaning and it refused to run. Every time I pushed the on button it would immediately trip the circuit breaker.
It's only 1 and a half years old but out of warranty. Figures! The one before it lasted me 10 years and I pulled it out of a waste bin at work. All it needed was a line fuse. I may tear it down and see if it's a simple fix or just a piece of junk.
I guess I'll be hand painting the canopy and blisters on the cat. Fortunately I have rattle cans of gloss and flat clear coats to finish it off with.

When it rains, it pours sometimes, Dollar. Glad to see you're hanging in there with your Cat.

I've no doubt you be a winner in the end!

I feel your pain, man. My airbrush and/or compressor have been unusable since this last winter and i have had to resort to rattlecans and le baton hirsute on more than once occasion. Ah well, onward and upward. This Cat is gonna look mighty fine.

Since the demise of my air compressor I've had to revert to hairy stick painting the canopy. Literally one frame at a time. The etching on the clear parts is very very faint so it takes me awhile to line up the tape. Then a quick swipe with the brush and off come the tape so bleed is minimized. Then an over night dry. Slow going at best but some progress is better than none!

Great to see you are still not letting it get the better of you, there should be a "GB Forum Award for Perseverance" if there was I would nominate you. 8-)
