is 40 pound a good deall 4 2 148 scale airfix lightinings

Or perhaps "Lightning"?
If you mean the Airfix 1/48 English Electric Lightning, here is a selection of prices they have been going for over the past few months. There is a very wide spread. Looking at these prices, I would suggest that £40 is a bit on the high side.

Sounds good to me!. 48 scale and £20 each can't be too bad can it?.

I would agree with Mark; a quick look on eBay shows prices of £23 upwards each so two for forty quid seems to be a good price if complete and unstarted

On that basis £20 is not bad at all. There might even be some extras.
