Good to see this finished, Tony and it looks great in that Alitalia livery. I really like the lines of the '727 with its wings free of engine pods and that high T-tail.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Definitely a good one. I think it's also the reason the VC-10 looks so good.ShaunW wrote:Good to see this finished, Tony and it looks great in that Alitalia livery. I really like the lines of the '727 with its wings free of engine pods and that high T-tail.
Hoping to return to modelling sometime this year!!

Great result. We don't get many airliners on here and that's a beauty.

Superb result from a not so brilliant (but not bad) kit!

Thanks for the feedback. Even though it's an old kit, it is one that you could put a lot of work and effort into to really make it stand out

Re: Airfix 1:144 Alitalia Boeing 727 * Complete*
Finished the 727. Picked up the base at a local craft store. They have different sizes and shapes at quite an inexpensive price. Just sanded it and used some wood stain I had on hand. It's mounted with a couple of threaded bushing and a piece of threaded rod which is covered by an aluminum spacer.
Tonight is my brothers big "50" party, and it's one of his gifts. While not perfect in any way, it's meant more from the heart than anything else.

Nice one, Tony, that base is a great finishing touch and hopefully your brother will be very pleased with it - I'd have been very happy to receive something like that on my 50th from my sister (I don't have a bro), even more so if she'd made it herself!
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

That looks nice! The stand really sets it off. About the only thing that could even be said to be missing is a nameplate, but it's not essential.
I'm sure your brother will love it; as you say, it's from the heart and the product of a lot of hard work. That's the sort of thing that can make a gift special.
It remind me of a model I made for the father of a friend of my wife, who was disappointed that he had been just that little bit too young to get to fly Spitfires in the RAAF during WW2 -- so I made him the Fujumi 1/48 Spit Mk VIII (only one around at the time). He was seriously chuffed about it and kept repeating "I've got a Spitty" to himself, so I think it was a success. The 727 should be one, too.

Nicely presented on it's stand and base. It's my birthday in September, so you'll have plenty of time to prepare something

The base looks spot on and really sets the aircraft off beautifully. I hope your brother enjoys his birthday and I'm sure your gift will be his best present ever
Best wishes

Everybody who saw the model liked it, especially my brother and my father.
This is one reason to model....it does make me feel good to give something made from the heart. While things may not be perfect, or accurate, it's not the point to me. I do it for the enjoyment, and knowing that something displayed is from the heart, and if people tend to nit pick, that's their issue and I just move on.
This was something great to do and helped get the modelling juices flowing again after a year or so. I appreciate the comments and views that everyone has posted here.
It really means a lot and I want to say thank you very much. It really does mean a lot to me.
