....some small advance here and there:
Image
I used a cotton swab dabbed in Rev. paint remover, to remove the excessive putty, saves some time spent on sanding :-)

....my Sabre´s got the pimples, is it ill, or what?
Image

Some reckless sanding brought this result:
Image

canopy glued on, elevators, too (from an MB Sabre - I´ll use the Hase elevators on it, instead (the MB Sabre is somehow, quite dear to me)

...the sanding put some tension on the fuse, so the line in-between the fusel. halves became visible agin, so I brushed on some
liquid poly there - more sanding needed now :-(

The P-51B has a good scheme, Crash and is coming along very nicely. Which kit is the F-86? it certainly seems to like its share of filler!
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

.....the sanding took away most of the raised lines indicating the shape of the landing gear doors,
so I scribed some recessed lines, instead:

...and the fins of the drop tanks needed some thinning out dearly:

Believe it or not, it´s from Hasegawa!
It must be one of their first kits they ever issued, I guess?
It´s from the 60ies, for sure.
But, at least shapewise, it´s quite good.
It will become a jap with a red nose and a red band around the mid section.

Silver on:

...the unforgiving silver made ugly seams near the tip of the wings visible:

No, can´t leave it that way -
so I sanded some more,
now I find it acceptable:

"Shapewise, its good" -
I´m not so sure anymore, wings are ok, but the fuselage looks skinny, it doesn´t have enough height -
I push on thru, anyway, I really want to try out those "Euro decals",
this brand is new to me, on paper, they really look good, and where they should be applicated, is well presented in colour.
My thinking about "accuracy" only spoils the experience I get with this kit,
that came out over 50 years ago (scalemts. say so) -
nuff said, on with the build!

I try not to be too much of a slave to accuracy, Crash, as long as a subject looks near enough I'm happy and, to me, this looks enough like an F-86 not to worry too much. Silver finishes are indeed very unforgiving!

Finally some progress to show:
Image
....canopy de-masked...

Image
...now to darken some panels here and there...

Image
...my JASDF Agressor Sabre got its red nose, now to paint the red band, wrapped around the fusel.

...red band around the waist painted:

I found an interesting page with JASDF Sabres, painted like mine:
http://nabe3saviation.web.fc2.com/aF861j.html;

First, I thought about masking the model before painting the red - but then: what the heck, and just painted freehand.
What ran over the silver, I scraped away with a toothpick.
Now decals!

Thank you´s! I really appreciate your kind words - they help me to finish old kits coming from a time before I was born, LOL.
Decalling is finished by now:

....not so much left to do, except for some weathering, and fixing the pitot: ooops, what happened to it?:
