Re: Stuart's Bench of Blunders
That's quite a comparison. I knew the herc was big; but seeing it dwarf that Jolly Green Giant derivative, which is a beefy chonk itself, is pretty amazing!
The hurricane is looking quite nice, too.

Yes indeed, it is a big old beast - It's actually quite nice to building something this big for a change.Softscience wrote: ↑February 26th, 2024, 3:19 pm That's quite a comparison. Re: Stuart's Bench of Blunders
The painting on the Hurricane is finished and I've just put a gloss coat on it ready for some decals. Really slow progress at the moment, I've yet to finish anything this year - if I'm lucky I'm getting about 10-20 minutes a day for modelling.
My wife and my daughter have their church group tonight, so hopefully I might get some time to add the decals and paint up the U/C.
Cheers!

It's actually the first model I've built for several years that I've painted solely with Humbrol acrylics (a mix of gen 1 and gen 2). I'm reasonably happy with paint, it was very thick and needed a fair bit of thinning, but seemed to cover well. The only complaint I have is those bloody awful dropper bottles - they make it impossible to mix the paint properly. I'd use Humbrol a lot more if they went back to pots.

Re: Stuart's Bench of Blunders
As wqell as getting some decals on the Hurricane, I've also finally finished sanding the seams down on the Herc, and am currently re-scribing the lost detail.
My new replacement engines have also arrived.
Cheers!

Looks like production is stepping up
All models are equal. Some models are more equal than others.

Re: Stuart's Bench of Blunders
any comments on the brengun parts? There's a guy near here who is always trying to sell me their kits, but I don't like pushy salesmen, so I told him to piss off. Still, some of their kits look interesting. But I wonder if they're worth the cost. At least the cost that guy is charging.

Hurri is looking the part with those decals on. Should be a doozy when it's all done.
The past, present, and future walked into a bar. It was tense.

What was that Jim, it's all Greek to me
Thanks Ben - I'm pretty pleased with how it's looking.
Not yet Ralph as I've yet to get them out of the box, I'll certainly let you know when I do. I did build a Brengen 1/72 Early Typhoon as good few years back, IIRC it wasn't a bad kit considering its shortrun nature.Softscience wrote: ↑February 29th, 2024, 7:54 pm any comments on the brengun parts?
