SST shared build
SST shared build
Opening post for the SST shared build. Any of the two types that made it into service and the stalled projects like the Boeing SST are fine. What if schemes are also ok. Still not 100% which project I will do.

I'll not be joining the SB, because I've already built my only candidate ...

That's an interesting beastie. I will probably use my 1/72nd Airfix Concorde in what-if colours. Just got to dig out the magazine it was in....jRatz wrote:I'll not be joining the SB, because I've already built my only candidate ...

Re: SST shared build
Ive just broken the seal on the box!
The sprues...
The clear parts such as they are, I really like the dimples in the side windows!
And the flash!! not too bad really. I've had a lot worse to clean up.
And last but not least the very nicely done Cartograf decals!
I guess the first step is some flash removal. See you a little later in the day.

Ho wow. Very fast work Greg. Unfortunately my day has been full of driving and moving wardrobes and a bed so no kit time for me.

Re: SST shared build
Thanks Greg! I know what you mean. Last weekend saw me cleaning gutters and working on the outside of the house. I’m looking forward to seeing your weekend endeavors!
Once I opened the box I just couldn’t put it down, it really has gone together quite easily. I must be jaded with these older kits, I’ve heard this was a flash monster and difficult to build, flash yes but easy to clean up. Ill fitting? Not really. Actually the fit was quite good. I know once I get to the decals things will slow down.

Re: SST shared build
I got some more time at the bench today. I did a lot of little fiddly bits, the landing gear doors that are closed on the ground were glued in place. And the flaperon actuators fairing were glued on too.
While that was drying I started hand painting the main landing gear components.
Then I tackled the engine pods. Got the turbine faces painted and glued in and then just slopped some flat black in the after end so it wouldnt look like the hollow box that it is when viewed from the back.
That's about all I'll get to do today, the wife and i are going to see a film and taking our grandson to see THE AVENGERS.

Re: SST shared build
Thanks once again Greg. I got lucky this weekend. Usually have some sort of family or household obligation. In fact this afternoon my wife my daughter grandson and I went to the movies. Found out after we got there that all seats were sold out so no movie. So we had a late lunch/early dinner, and the 3 of us took the little guy to an indoor trampoline center and let him go crazy. It was after 6 when we got home.

I've retrieved my Airfix Concorde from the loft so just waiting for a gap (a BIIIIG gap! ) in the modelling area!.

Start small stuff and push other stuff out of the way. You’ll make space!
