The French at Waterloo
Re: The French at Waterloo
Cheers Marky, Napoleonic uniforms are very decorative, and the more I read about them the more info I retain. I'm no expert, but I find the subject fascinating
The three groups are a farrier scene, a field hospital and a camp at rest, singing and drinking. The other figures will fit into my regimental formations

Re: The French at Waterloo
Some very nice subtle variations in the colours of the horses Ratch. A formidable sight in the head on pics.

Re: The French at Waterloo
Thanks for your interest guys. I airbrushed the horses to get a variation in colours. As I understand it, the first squadron rode blacks, the second rode bays, the third chestnuts and the fourth whites or greys. Trumpeters also rode greys. I used a little licence and had the fifth squadron on a mixture. Of course this was in an ideal situation and having been involved in battle, replacement horses might not match the colour specification desired.

French General Staff
Front row, left to right, first is a general dressed in dragoon uniform. #2 is based on Marshal Ney, a Mameluke figure that is presumably meant to depict Roustam, the Emperor's personal servant, or other mameluke servants, the Emperor Napoleon is mounted on his horse and wearing his familiar grey greatcoat over the undress uniform of the Guard Chasseurs à cheval, a Trumpeter of the 11th Chasseurs, Captain aide-de-camp, Marshal (based on Soult), another Marshal.
The figure with the sword is not from this set. Chef d’Escadron, Captain aide-de-camp, 4th Light Infantry officer.
Marmeluke, Dragoon General, Marshal, Officer, 1st Croatian Infantry Regiment, Marshal

Re: The French at Waterloo
I have some pictures somewhere Martin. I'm currently ploughing through my photo collection, reloading to Flickr what I'd previously stored on Picturetrail (now lost because of their demise), so I'll re-post when I get round to them
