I picked this kit up as a cheap impulse buy on eBay, the kit came without a box and there is no scale mentioned on the instructions, but as the kit measure 8.38 inches and the ships length was 825 ft this makes it about 1/1200
The plastic is the hard type with quite fine raised detail, that although way out of scale should be quite effective if dry brushed.
Unfortunately no a/c are included with the kit.

My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.
Re: PYRO USS Yorktown
Now that looks like a nice little kit. Shame about no aircraft but I am sure it will look superb when done by someone with your skills Alan.

Looks good, Alan and although the detail is a bit out of scale I agree it should look good if carefully dry brushed. Aircraft in this scale would be minute and, I would imagine, be very difficult to paint - might be better off without them anyway, IMHO only of course, you might be well up to the task!
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

I thought at first it was the same kit as the Revell version, but I was completely wrong. Looking at images online this actually looks like a more detailed kit
Although the Revell version does come with a/c.

Interesting effort to depict the landing wires.

Interesting kit! Looking forward to seeing you build and paint it Alan!
Best wishes

If you can walk away from a landing, it's a good landing. If you use the airplane the next day, it's an outstanding landing

These used to be available in lots of newsagents around the late 50's. I still have USS Washington. All complete, too. It was part of my interest in Minic Ships, Eagle Ships and modelling in general. I still have a lot of my old ships.
So many models, so little time.
