Re: Stridsvagn 104 (Swedish Centurion)
It’s surprising what a couple of good hours bench time can do.
I spotted that the error with my side boxes was down to my stupid mistake, I missed the fact there was a small box between the normal storage boxes and the air intake box rather than try to remove the boxes, I have just extended them, with luck no one will read this or spot the error

Re: Stridsvagn 104 (Swedish Centurion)
I now have a tank that resembles the Bovingdon Stridsvagn 104, now is the time to paint the base colour onto the hull and then paint and fit the wheels, running gear and bazooka plates.

What colour are you using for the base coat?
I’m thinking start with the light green.

Because the original colour was the dark green and the lower hull and wheels are in this colour I will airbrush the whole tank in that colour before applying the disruptive patterns.

That sounds like a good plan.lancfan wrote:Because the original colour was the dark green and the lower hull and wheels are in this colour I will airbrush the whole tank in that colour before applying the disruptive patterns.

It really is great to watch how you two are approaching your conversions of this classic Airfix kit. Excellent work, gents!

Re: Stridsvagn 104 (Swedish Centurion)
I have picked the colours for my model, they are all Revell Aqua- Tar Black 06, Dark Green 68, earth Brown 87 and Fern Green 360. The trickiest parts of this will be the complicated patterns on the bazooka plates or side armour, to make this easier I have printed out side view pictures full size to the model and I will cut these up panel by panel drawing along the lines with pencil as I go.

Re: Stridsvagn 104 (Swedish Centurion)
I have a range of HATAKA paints that should suit my needs, my first idea was spray on first colour followed by free hand brush work with the others.
I like your idea with the scale size print, that might be a better idea as I could use a print to make Fisk masks and sprey the Bazooka plates. But the rest would need to be done free hand.

Re: Stridsvagn 104 (Swedish Centurion)
My barrel wasn’t to bad which is unusual, as in the past I have had to scratch build them on this kit. So all I have done is drill out the end then to add the thermal sleeve, I have covered the barrel with tissue paper and PVA glue.

I got feed up looking at all the different coloured plastics, so I have given it all a coat of primer.

Re: Stridsvagn 104 (Swedish Centurion)
Oops ! I forgot the barrel sleeve, I have now removed the barrel, wrapped it in Masking tape and refitted it to the turret.
The assembled tank painted overall in Revell Dark Green 68.
I have now begun to brush paint the bazooka plates, I found that my choice of Revell Fern Green was wrong, it is far too bright so I have poured a little Revell 39 Dark green into a spare Humbrol pot and have added White, Yellow and Fern Green to match the colour shown in pictures of the full size machine.

Re: Stridsvagn 104 (Swedish Centurion)
The bazooka plates have now been painted following the patterns based on model-sized side view pictures of the real tank, I can now extend these patterns over the hull and turret freehand by following other pictures.

Ooooooo that looks nice.
Did you extend the original Bazooka plates or scratch build new ones?
